-- Outlook98 conduits disappeared (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=2140)
Hi, Everybody --
HotSyncing was working fine for the past 6 weeks (except for having to reset VDx every so often), until all the Outlook conduits disappeared from both PocketMirror and the HotSync manager. In HotSync Mgr, I see Mail, Expense, System and Install; System and Install are the only things listed in PocketMirror settings.
I tried reinstalling PocketMirror from the CD, which did absolutely nothing. I also tried the fix suggested on Chapura's on-line support, which is to shut down HotSync Mgr, type c:\palm\HotSync.exe -r in Run (I tried this from the DOS prompt, too -- no luck). Chapura then says to run some FixMapi utility, which my computer couldn't find.
I'm running Outlook98 in Win98 w/ AMDK-6. Any ideas? Thanks.
didja try re-installing pocketmirror? go onto the handspring cd rom into the palmsfw/disk 1/pocketmirror directory and run the setup.
try re-installing pocketmirror and see what happens. (don't forget to hotsync after)
d'oh, my mistake.
didja try un-installing pocketmirror first? then the palm desktop software? do that, and maybe try re-installing it all. that might work.
I tried uninstalling both Palm and PocketMirror, and then reinstalling both of them. I did this three times. Still no dice. Any other tricks up your sleeve?
Problem solved, thanks to Vicky @ Chapura! Here's the quick fix (I'm quoting Vicky here):
"This error could be caused if you have Eudora Mail or Netscape Messenger. If
you have one of these, turn off their individual MAPI versions. In Eudora go
to Options and set MAPI for Never. In Netscape Messenger, go to
Edit/Preferences/Mail, and remove the check from "Use Netscape Messenger
from MAPI-based applications"."
After checking the box in Netscape, I reinstalled from the CD and now all is well.
