I usually use NiMH for VDx instead of Alkaline. And the meter got running low too early. Is there any way that I could set battery type to NiMH? I look around for battery type settings but could not find it.

Take a look at this thread. I posted a link here to a battery meter application (not a hack) that worked well for me when I had my VDX.

I saw an application on PalmGear to address this problem. It creates a battery section under Prefs and allows you to select different types of batteries, thereby changing the thresholds for the warnings. The name is Battery Prefs 1.11 . I installed it without difficulties but I have not gotten around to installing other batteries yet.
