Worked at Radio Shack as a teen, so TRS 80 was the first computer I spent any time on, C64 was the first I owned.

One of my customers at Radio Shack bought a 5" battery operated tv and velcroed his Timex Sinclair to it, making one of the first portables I saw.

I had (and probably still have) a Z-80 plug in cartridge for theC64. I never did anything with it, but I HAD to have it...

30, as of 3 weeks ago... (the Monday before Thanksgiving)

First computer was either a TRS-80 in school or an Atari 400 that I used in an afterschool class... can't remember which I actually used first!

They say that memory is the second thing to go with age. Now what was the first again?

33 1/2. My first computer was a C64 with a cassette tape drive. Programming on that was a trip. Just got started on this PDA stuff, but since Christmas 2001 I have owned a Visor Deluxe, Visor Platinum, Visor Prism, Audiovox Maestro, Treo 90 and now a Clie T665. Boy is this stuff addictive!

39. First computer in our house was a TI99/4a, but we used to go to Olson Electronics when they had a Commodore PET and program it to drive the sales guys nuts.

The sales guy would switch the computer off, then turn it back on and look at us funny.

Meanwhile, at Radio Shack, those guys didn't mind us at all. We probably helped them sell some TRS-80s, especially when they got the voice synthesizer. "So easy even a high school kid can program it!" which meant something in those days.

I cut my teeth programming an Atari 800 (though my home computer was an Atari 400 w/third party keyboard).

We had no monitors on the main-frame computer in college. Just those noisy Dec-writers with the teletype. Or you could hand a stack of punch-cards to the operator.

36. I first used an old VAX mainframe for my senior ChemE project. Then used an IBM 286 in Grad School. My thesis advisor tried to convince me that I didn't need a mouse (windows had just come out!).

14, my first comp was my dad's old TRS-80 Color. my older sister used to be glued to that thing... she even made it bounce a little ball across the screen!

first PDA was a RadioShack 512k organizer... that was pretty cool too until the display cracked. i have a tendency to do that...
