-- No Outlook Conduits (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=2278)
Would like help trying to sync Outlook 98 and visor. Installed palm desktop, rebuilt registries, installed pocket mirror, hot sync'd (fine with desktop), but only getting mail fom outlook. Conduit manager still only lists system and install, no outlook stuff.
Uninstalled, reinstalled. Same thing. 'bout to give up. Love that Visor though.
Which OS are you on? Another thing check to make sure that the username on the Visor and on the desktop are the same. It sounds like you have more than one user on your computer..this is why. You said that you could sync with your mail and the palm desktop, but your conduits only say system and install..they should list everything that syncs. BTW after you uninstall, delete the Visor folder and all of its contents.
Am on NT 4.0. Also tried suggestion by JHromdeka to delete all existing outlook profiles and creating a new one-- Did not work either.
Hotsync manager does list all conduits which sync'd, but when I check settings for the visor profile in PocketMirror that is where it only lists system and install.
Will try again, deleting all existing visor stuff.
Thanks for the timely response.
Another reason that you might be having a problem is if you do not have administration rights on NT. What you want to do is have your network admin grant you rights. Once that is done uninstall the software..then reinstall. Make sure that YOU are signed on when you install the software. After that rebooted and retry. Also if your MS-Outlook folders are on a network the hotsync manager cannot find them.
I had the same problem with Outlook98. Please refer to my earlier post under "Outlook98 conduits disappered" for my sad tale. I'll jump to the happy ending and tell you how I got the conduits back in PocketMirror and HotSync Manager:
Problem solved, thanks to Vicky @ Chapura! Here's the quick fix (I'm quoting Vicky here):
"This error could be caused if you have Eudora Mail or Netscape Messenger. If you have one of these, turn off their individual MAPI versions. In Eudora go to Options and set MAPI for Never. In Netscape Messenger, go to Edit/Preferences/Mail, and remove the check from "Use Netscape Messenger from MAPI-based applications"."
After checking the box in Netscape, I reinstalled from the CD and now all is well.
I am permitted admin rights to client but not to server. MIS mgr will not grant admin rights to my profile, even for a few minutes, to install PM, because software will have access to entire network via client. Frankly, I can't blame him. If the whole PDA industry is geared to corporate users, the software has to be a little easier to install and use without compromising security.
Anyway, I still can't get outlook to sync. I use only personal folders for all outlook info stored on client. Do not have Eudora or Netscape installed on client from which I am trying to sync.
If anyone has any other suggestions, I am willing to try them.
I could not hotsync until I went into the internet options and under the programs tab I did had to make Outlook my mail handler. Eventhough I receive mail through Compuserve I made outlook the handler and everything with my visor has worked fine since. I did have to hotsync twice after the initial fix. I.E. then first hotsync after making Outlook the mail provider I got and error message that said to try again. No problems since. This will solve the problems of those who are getting a pstprx.dll error message -- but I'm not sure if it will help you.
