Question

I was about to register IrLink when it stopped working on my Visor Deluxe. Jay at Iscomplete has been working with me to try to solve the problem. (An "A" for effort and courtesy.) But since the problem isn't yet solved, I thought, perhaps, another visorcentral member might recognize the problem and have a solution.

Hotsync no longer works. On trying Device Discovery, my laptop (a Dell Latitude CPt) momentarily recognizes the Visor (but not by name); the Visor cannot find an IrDA compliant device.

At Jay's suggestion, I have tried the following, all without success:

1. Delete IrLink and SerIrComm from Visor; soft reset; delete IrLink and SerIrComm from PC. Reinstall all.

2. Hard Reset; hotsync to install only IrLink, LicenseMgr, and SerIrComm.

3. Delete from and reinstall to PC infrared ports and controller.

At home, tonight, I'll try beaming to and from my wife's Visor to see whether that functionality works.

Any other ideas?

I had exactly the same problem today. The computer had somehow reset the default IR settings, so using HP SIR (my previous setting) no longer worked.

I unchecked "Enable infrared communication" on the options tab of the IR control panel, and now it's back to working fine.

Did anybody else experience this problem today? I wonder how the control panel reset itself automatically. Maybe it's a leap year bug...
