-- Franklin Covey Planner to Palm desktop (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=2608)
Yes, I recognize that this is a Visor forum, but since I own both a Palm and Visor (and the level of intelligent contribution on this board is a bit higher than on other posts) I feel comfortable in asking a Palm related Q.
My friend is ready to pitch her Franklin Covey software and wants to use the desktop that I use with my Visor (Palm desktop 3.0.1). I'm not familiar with the file format of the FC. Can the addresses and calendar events on her Palm be synced or imported to the Palm desktop? The plan is to bring as many existing entries as possible from her FC to the Palm environment before uninstalling the FC software. I already suspect that certain fields/data may be lost in the migration.
I've searched for other discussion on this topic and haven't learned enough yet. Anyone with experience in this little shift (or any words of caution/wisdom)?
I don't know if this helps much, but I originally put most of my phone book and calendar entries into the original software that came with my visor. I later installed the Franklin Covey software, and after a hot sync, all my info was in the Franklin Covey software. Maybe if it works one direction, it is safe to assume it will work the other way?
Wish I could tell you more, but good luck!
Sari
So how is that FC software? I used a paper one a while back, but it was to bulky to carry around all the time. I've seen advertisements(sp) for a system very much like franklin but uses the prog that came with the visor. Any words of wisdom?

bjornsen - - If Sari's tip doesn't work (and I would try it first), you can export your address book info from FC into a text file (in CSV format). From there it can be imported into almost anything. You will need to keep the field info handy (it's in the manual or on FC's web site) when you do the import.
Maltair - - I'm using the FC for Outlook software (not the FC for Windows product), and it is great if your work revolves around a single desktop. The FC apps for the Palm OS are on the fat side, and some are flakey For example, the Daily Record of Events burps every now and then, and looses an entry. Also, FC does not utilize the native Palm OS To Do List (in supplies its own Task List that syncs with your desktop FC To Do list). For more on the limitations of FC's Palm OS apps, search the Software board for an old thread that went into this in detail. If I had it to do over, I'd try Jeff Kirvin's FC work-a-like system, and save myself $100 - - http://www.jeffkirvin.com/writingon...lm/planning.htm

There was another system out there that this guy developed. It is very similuar to the FC system but uses the native software. It is presented in a video format that you can watch in 10-15 min tidbits...
I've been looking for it for the last 3 days but can't find it
Anybody else seen it?

The above are high on the list of reasons she wants out of the FC structure, with emphasis on the ToDo feature.
