-- Formatting MMCs for Minijam (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=8383)

Question

Hi folks,
Has anyone had a problem formatting MMCs for your Minijam? Yesterday I bought a 32 MB Sandisk MMC card for Slot B. I went through the formatting process and, when it was 99% done, I got an error message that suggested my MMC card was defective. I tried it again in Slot A and got the same response. Before I take it back to CompUSA, I wanted to find out if anyone else had experienced similar problems. I hope the card is at fault -- and not my Minijam.

Question

Did you ever figure out what the problem was?

Thanks in advance,
Walter

Yes, Walter, I did.

It was the card. I called Innogear and the very nice customer service guy asked me to perform a simple test. I put the 64 mb card through the formatting process and it was successful Of course, it deleted my music too, but it convinced us both that the Minijam was OK and the 32 mb card was faulty.

I took the card back to CompUSA, picked out a new one and formatted it right there in the store. It was fine!
Now I'm waiting for the 64 mb cards to become available in the retail market!

Wink

Soon I'm ordering a SanDisk 32MB MMC. So far my MiniJam rocks!

Diane, Walter,

I finally got my Minijam last week....I love it, too. I saw 32MB MMC card for about $73 at Buy.com. Is that a good price? Is there anywhere else that I can get it cheaper?

Thanks,

Thumbs up

Well, considering the fact that I paid $99.99 for mine at CompUSA, $73 sounds like a GREAT price to me!

32mb card

Fry's Electronics in the SF Bay Area has advertised the 32mb MMC card for $59.99 twice.
So far it seems like they've been running the ad every other week in the Friday newspapers around here.

And no, I don't believe they'll mail them to people out of the area, sorry. They even refuse to run a website!

OvaGirl, Thanks for the info. I used to live in L.A. so I know about Fry's....too bad they don't ship. I ended up ordering one from Onvia.com for $77(shipping free).

I had trouble formatting my shiny new 32MB SanDisk MMC. The fix was to download and install the patch from InnoGear.

Smile

I didn't have any problem formatting my Sandisk 32MB MMC. I guess I was lucky.
