I remember seeing a few mentions of this in various posts.

I just spoke with Handspring's Technical Support (disconnected immediately on the first call, answered immediately on the second), and was told that the slight give in the screen is normal, and that the screen is more sensitive than the Palm screens.

That's a true story... I noticed that I don't have to write as firmly against the screen to get the recognition.

I went to wipe a speck of dust off the screen, and BARELY tapped it... it launched the application that my finger swiped over.

If you can get used to writing more lightly, it might save some wear on the screen, but I know I'll probably continue to write just as firmly on the Visor as I did on the IIIx.

That's odd. With my Visor I have to write with greater force than I had to with my Palm Pilot. My WriteRight is wearing down three times as quickly.

as i know it the screen might be brocken. becouse of the was LCD displays work if something leaks it can make it gooy or sticky. if windex doesnt remdy this problem (or if it comes back.) hotsinc you Visor and call tech support and get a new one, if they don't agree get a computer repair guy to convince them.
