-- the PERFECT color PalmOS product (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=14516)
This is my idea of the perfect PalmOS based PDA:
- Slim form factor like the Handspring Edge or Palm Vx/m500/505
- Small expansion media such as SD/MMC or SmartMedia
- IR port at top instead of side
- 16MB internal memory
- Apps, data, etc. can be accessed DIRECTLY off expansion media
- 16 bit color (65,000+ colors)
- Screen like the iPaq. Bright and colorful indoors and totally viewable in direct sunlight
- 340 x 340 resolution like the Sony color Clie
- a VIRTUAL grafitti area like the new HandEra 330 (formerly TRG Products)
- Anti-reflective screen
- A loud REAL speaker like the TRG Pro, not a piezo
- A headphone jack and built in MP3 decoding without need for a module.
I'm trying to keep this realistic. I'm sure there will be replies adding stuff to this list, making a "swiss army knife" PDA. I believe that since Handspring, Palm, Sony, HandEra and Compaq have already incorporated every feature I mentioned into their own PalmOS product, rolling them all into one "perfect" product should not be impossible. PalmOS 3.5 can be upgraded to 16MB, which many of us have already done. I have not wished for anything that doesn't already exist (except maybe the anti-reflective screen.)
If you want a virtual graffiti area like the Handera then the resolution needs to be 320x240, not 340x340.

Regardless of the numbers, I'd want higher resolution than the standard Handsprings offer; I was speaking of the resolution the Sony Clie offers, with the full screen (total use of the silkscreen grafitti area) capabilities of the Handera.
I'd actually tradeoff slimness for increased battery life and the better speaker. I've gotten used to the size of my Prism so if I could get a few weeks out of the battery (like I did with my Visor Deluxe), I'd give up the Vx/Edge/M505 form factor. Of course, this being the "perfect" device, I'd have that speaker and huge extended battery life WITHOUT having to give up the slim form factor!
