Red face FA: STOWAWAY Keyboard (for Visors) @ $1.00 !!

Auction is ended.

Exclamation

I accept your offer to sell me your Visor Keyboard for $1.00. Please email me for my physical address. I can pay you your $1.00 either by Paypal or by sending you a check or cash. What a great deal!!!

Thanks.

---

P.S. If you really didn't mean that you were selling your Visor Keyboard for $1.00, and really meant that you were auctioning your keyboard, and that the current price was $1.00, then perhaps you should have written "For Auction:" and advertised "FA:".

Wink Hum-de-dum..

Well, I must say that I don't sell a lot of Visor stuff so I wouldn't know too much about the codes you use on this board. In any event, the item was listed at $1.00 when I posted it!

BTW, anyone interested in a Visor Solo with a cracked screen? I don't know if it's worth the money to fix it up.

Posted by Brianp on 05-18-2001 03:45 PM:

My point was that when you are auctioning an item and you start the bidding at $1.00, the price is not $1.00 and it is disingenuous to say you are selling it for $1.00... because you are not.

It has nothing to do with this board specifically, but with usenet and discussion boards in general. If you are auctioning something, then say so... but don't advertise you are "selling" it for $1.00 - because you are not.

(as far as "codes" - FA is For Auction just like FS is For Sale, just like you used in your message heading).

Brianp,

I think you're wasting your breath. I think he knew all that and set up the too-good-to-be-true posting on purpose.

Thumbs down Ebay Schmeebay

I've tried in vain to purchase a Stowaway keyboard on Ebay for a lower price than retail. Don't waste your time. The auction quickly rises to $65-75 dollars in no time. Then of course you have to pay for shipping. Then of course you have to wait a frikkin' week to get it. Then of course it's probably used. Just go buy a new one and you won't have to hassle with anything.

Exclamation Oh...

I wasn't meaning to mislead - I saw a lot of other auctions and decided to post mine too. Is it such a crime that I use a bit of enticing wording to attract some attention? I had thought it was in the best interest of everyone.

As for getting a Stowaway for cheap... it's like getting an iPaq for cheap. Right now, it just can't be done unless someone is willing to sell theirs for a fixed price. It's a popular item so there will be people who are willing to pay more than you are.

As for shipping, I am offering free next day shipping if you had checked my auction page.

Its just not too ethical. Other items for auction said they were for auction or the link said e-bay.

Talking Over soon

Well, in any event the auction is ending in a few hours - midday Sunday - so if you're interested at all make sure you throw a bid in. You'd still be saving a bundle, especially if you were looking to buy one retail!

Someone bid like a thousand then i'll bid two thousand just for that guy being an ass about his little "one dollar keyboard"

He'll never be able to sell it htat way, and if ebay says anything, i'll say he mislead me which is true. just send ebay a link to his post!!!

I don't think it's appropriate to call me an ass seeing as I'm not the one who has a problem here. Please take your name calling somewhere else because this was just a small mistake, okay? Thank you.

He already edited his post.

Small mistake!!! DONT POST YOUR STUPID EBAY ADDS HERE BECAUSE MORONS BID OVER THERE A PAY MORE THEN RETAIL PRICE FOR USED STUFF!!!

Go to cnet.com and read the story they wrote about how you are better off buying retail on sale then buying stuff on ebay.

You can find the article here by going to CNet and searching on "ebay".

Yaz...shut the hell up please. Stop whining.

If you don't want to buy his keyboard then don't bid on it. Whether it was a mistake on his part or not, so what? I read this post and I even went to his ebay auction page. I saw that the price would be more than I wanted to pay so I left.

I spent about 5 minutes of my time.

Posted by yaz320 on 05-21-2001 09:59 PM:

I'm not whining, I'm pointing out the facts. That 5 minutes could have been spent on Etrade making money by buying/selling stocks. in 5 minutes you could double your money.

No, you're pointing out your biased views of the facts, obviously. Nowhere does CNet claim that one shouldn't bid on eBay because prices are always higher than retail. They merely caution against getting caught up in auction hype and bidding more than you should. Also, I'm sure the guy who just bought my Visor Deluxe and extras on eBay paid a couple hundred dollars less than retail for it.
