-- Buy.com has the worst Customer Service Now. (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=16530)
Buy.com has the worst Customer Service Now.
I was trying to get in contact with buy.com on the phone at 888-880-1030 and the machine says that they don't handle customer service anymore by phone and I should contact them by email. When you go to their page they say that they no longer have live or e-mail customer service and that all questions should answered in the FAQ menus.
Buy.com is getting worst and worst. Man, I remember when I used to call them and asked them anything and they would kindly solve any problems.
I'm really disappointed about Buy.com
Al

I always found buy.com's customer service to be pathetic. For some unknown reason, whenever I've tried to access the FAQ pages, I'd have to sit there forever and ever and still it wouldn't finish loading. Once, I started to access the FAQ page, then (after about ten minutes) caled the toll-free number. I was on hold for half an hour, and when I was done speaking with the agent (another 15 minutes) the page still hadn't loaded. The browser throbber was just going, and going, etc. (No, my computer didn't crash, either.)
The worst part? all I was trying to do was to access my account history.

What's worse is that their prices are nothing to brag about either. They're charging $2,600.00 for a Laptop I can currently buy for $1,599.00

Well, what do you expect? For years Buy.com's business model was to sell products for less they they bought them at. In otherwords, their business model was to loose money on every sale.
Of course, their plan was to eventually get us all hooked and then raise prices, but that never worked.
For the record, outpost.com is tanking too, and I had a terrible support experience with them a few weeks ago.

Thanks for the heads up guys. Now I know where not to shop.
I recently used AskSimon.com to find a stereo and I decided to use XtremeShopper.com which was on their hit list. Boy did I make a mistake!
I placed my order Friday and I never got a confirmation e-mail. I had to call (GASP!)
to check on my order. When I try to access my account online it says they're updating their databases and the system will be back up shortly--that was ever since Friday! It's still not up today.
I will not shop this site, even if they do have the lowest price. I'd rather pay a higher price and get better service.
One site I really got good service from was Onsale.com, which is now Egghead.com and I rarely use them now.
Are we witnessing the death of good Internet customer service?

Are you sure you are talking about buy.com? Unless they've recently changed business models, they are just like any store in that they stock their own inventory and sell that.
I think they may team up with a few ecommerce entities that do work on the commision model, but buy.com does not.

Does Buy.com really sell things for less than they paid for them? I just thought they sold things with a very small commission.

I don't know about less than they paid for it -- less than most retail, for sure.
I've paid several dollars less for new CDs there, but some titles are more than I could get in the store. I got a couple software titles and my Graphire at buy.com for less than the MSRP though.
