Is there a way to upgrade the Visor Deluxes screen to more than the mere 4 shades of gray????

No, there isn't. It isn't the screen, it's the OS. HandSpring has never made an upgrade available. If you look do a search, you can find a ton of discussion on this topic.

Ok...then they should make one, fast....

Isnt the problem really the 3.1 os, and you only would
need to upgrade a deluxe to 3.5 (if you could :-) to
see 16 shades. Isnt there an app that displays in 16shades
on the deluxe?

As has been stated many times before, there are a handful of apps that will display 16 gray scales on a VDx. There are many more apps that support 16 grayscales on newer OSs, but only suport 4 grayscale mode on the VDx. Unless HandSpring comes out with an update, there is nothing that you can do about these apps.
