-- IR comms with gsm phones (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=13840)
hiya all, i have great trouble in connecting my visor dlx to the net via ir link to ir compatible phones can anyone tell me what i am doingwrong?????????
Out of the box, the VDx can't communicate through IR to a phone. You'll need a 3rd party app like IrLink.

or BeamSync
Or better still, use BeamSync which is freeware from http://www.tt.rim.or.jp/~tatsushi/bsync10b2.zip
You also need a couple of files from Palm's IRenhance..check the readme for more info.
I use this setup with my VDX and Motorola Timeport L7089. Works a treat.
Ajuna,
Check out this link.
It may help.
I've noticed that the distance between the IR port of the phone and Visor is critical in establishing a connection. I've done some experimenting with my Nokia 8290 and it seems that one stylus length works best. Anything less than that, doesn't seem to establish a connection between the devices. The exception, of course, is if you butt up the two device's IR ports against each other. In general, I would go with no less than one stylus length and no greater than one foot. Good luck.
