-- Handspring Serial cradle to external modem conversion (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=3405)
Will Handspring serial cradle work with a external modem as is or do I need to change something?
Don
Interesting question... I'd liketo know myself. Of course, it would probably be difficult to use the Visor while it's in the cradle.

I think you would need a null-modem adapter to do that, but otherwise, I think it should work.
I have the serial cradle and are trying to connect to Garmin 12 GPS with no luck yet, I have garmin to serial cable thru null modem block thru gender changer into visor serial plug. ANy suggestions are welcome. Using gpspilot.com software. Demo version.
Any suggestions are welcome

[I think all this is telling me that the serial cradle has to get power from something to turn on signal converter. I am guessing this is what happens when you push the hot sync button and stays on with visor battery power until the hot sync is done, Can anyone out there tell me how to modify the stock visor cradle to stay powered by an external battery while I use the GPS? Am I getting this all wrong? Not an EE but a ME
