I thought this was rather interesting....I don't know if it would work with the Visor due to the serial port issues......

Do files get embarrassed when they get unzipped?

That's what I was thinking as well I'm sure you could with
the Lego MindStorms. I've got the MindStorms kit but really
haven't put it to good use yet. They just came out with a cool camera for the Lego kit might be cool to interface the two and store the images somehow on the Palm. Spy on the neighbors, put it in the girls bathroom.....umm wait a second perhaps I've said too much

Let see: Other possibility: Mark/Space is supposed to have their Handspring DataCords available "Mid October". So one could start with one of those instead of the Palm Hot Sync Cable.

Potter,

Are you saying it would work with perhaps a serial cradle? I am not too tech savy when it comes to serial ports......

I wasn't sure if you were saying it would work or wouldn't.

I did not say anything about the serial CRADLE. I did say that it should work with the Mark/Space HotSync CABLE. But let me think. ... The Handspring Serial cradle draws it's power from one of the control line from the PC. I do not remember which one. If one tied the wire from that control line to the +6 volt power, it should work.

C'mon Ryan...I'll try it if you will! I'll even go in with you for a volume parts purchase. Besides, my dad is a retired engineer, so I can always pester him with questions...

Question

Is there a volume discount???

If so I would be interested in some of the more difficult to obtain parts. Such as wheels, stepper control board and infrared rangefinders.

I am very curious as to what "holonomic" motion is!

Any other takers for volume discounts???

Wink Parts is Parts...

nitehawk,

Not so much "volume discounts" but some manufacturers will not sell single quantities, you need to buy "bulk". If more people are interested, we could combine our orders. I'll coordinate if there is enough interest.

As far as the definition of "holonomic", some of our more science-minded folks could better answer this one...

I just fix 'em...I can't explain how they work

Lightbulb Parts is parts...

I'm getting ready to place orders for parts to build one of these gadgets. If anyone is interested in combining parts orders, please send me an email. I will order parts on 10/18.

This is gonna be fun!

I may have to retract this statement. Based off of a post from rosswords in another discussion, the Mark/Space HOTSYNC cable draws its power from the Host. The Mark/Space MODEM cable draws its power from the Visor.

Kits may be available soon!

This new note is now on the website:

Note: Do you want to buy a Palm Pilot Robot Kit? We are currently negotiating with several companies who will begin selling the kit soon. Check back here in a few days to see pointers to the companies from which you can buy a PPRK.

I'm going to hold off ordering parts and just get a kit. By that time a cable should be available for the Visor.

D'oh, it's like having to wait for Christmas morning...
