Palm software w/ my Prism?

I know that someone else must be encountering errors in Win XP when syncing, but I can't find any threads about them. When my Prism finishes syncing with Outlook XP, before it starts to sync w/ Avantgo, WinXP says that it has encounter 'problems' and needs to be closed (real specific, huh?). Chapura says that I need the new version of Hotsync (4.0) from palm.com, but has anyone tried it w/ Handspring devices? Palm.com doesn't have just Hotsync 4.0 available for download; you have to dl the whole Palm desktop, etc. Has anyone tried this? thanks for the help.

I've had no problems syncing a Platinum and Edge to XP, although I don't use Outlook. Are you using Handsprng's Desktop 4.0? You should be if you're on XP. Have you tried reinstalling Desktop? If that still doesn't work, try downloading and installing Palm's Desktop 4.0. Should work just fine with the Visor.

Thanks for the reply.
I am using the newest Handspring desktop software, but the Hotsync version is only 3.1.2H. According to http://www.palm.com/support/downloads/ there are 3 different versions for their desktop, w/ only 1 that has the newest hotsync. I guess it's compatible w/ my prism....

What about Chapura updates?

Have you downloaded the latest updates for PocketMirror? My Prism syncs just fine with Outlook 2000 using the latest Handspring and Chapura software. (Running on XP)

Well, I had tried to use the Palm software, but the Prism resets before the sync is finished (when it gets done with the outlook stuff). So, I reinstalled the HS stuff. I narrowed the problem down to Eudora internet suite; it only crashes when I sync the outlook data AND email WITH the eudora suite. Sync using standard mail conduit, fine. Sync using eudora, causes fatal exceptions and deletes the log file. Checked all of eudora's FAQ's and kb's, nothing pertaining to my problem. No email or phone support for Eudora internet suite (it's free). I loved it under W2K, but WXP doesn't love it, so I'll just wait until they get a version that supports XP. Thanks for the help anyhow.

That seems odd. I also sync EIS, but I do that on a different machine (my laptop) that runs Windows 2000 and Outlook Express. One thing you might try is to delete the files "eismMAPI.dat" and "eismMAPItomb.dat" in \palm\<username>\Eudora Mail\ (or \program files\handspring\<username>\Eudora Mail\ , depending on what your original version of the palm desktop software was). This will force a "refresh" of all the mail data by the Eudora conduit.
