Springboard Radio?

Well, the CueRadio and My-Radio have been mentioned recently here at VisorCentral (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/...;threadid=17352).

Prior to the posts/above thread, I've noticed also that both products were announced over a year ago, yet none have appeared on the market! I check their sites from time to time to see if there are any new developments, but there haven't been. Why is this? Is it a technical reason, or something else? It seems to me like a great concept.

I for one would be interested in purchasing an FM SpringBoard Radio with Weather and Police/Emergency Scanner/etc.(although, would go with the one that would be compatible with the SpringBoard EnergyClip so I could listen while jogging-without the Visor).

Anyways, let's take a Poll on who would actually buy one. Let's also assume the pricepoint is less than <$100. Better yet, if any of the Mfgr's out there care to comment on why it's taking so long. I'd love to read your posts

Excellent idea about using the EnergyClip. As it only supplies power (I think) it should work with MiniJam too, with some modification. Other modules that could use it don't have external controls, store on the Visor or have mics. I would hope the price would be less than $50.

More Energy Clip modules

I think more springboard module developers should build their springbopards around the energy clip. I chose the SoundsGood over the MiniJam becuase of the energy Clip.

What would a Springboard radio do that a Walkman wouldn't? Up to 1,000 presets ?

What might be useful would be if it had a database of all the radio stations in North America to search, or if it could work with Avant Go's Radio Locator Travel Guide channel which has a listing. That could make it worth it.

Why I'd Buy One

A springboard radion probably wouldn't do anything a walkman wouldn't do.
BUT - I'm trying to reduce the number of gadgets I've got to carry around. And a radio module would allow me to leave the walkman at home.
- just as my VisorPhone allowed me to dump the separatye pager & cel phone.

Now - a suggestion for a module - the Springboard doubler!!
- so I can have my phone and another module available at the same time.
- it's an really thin expansion module which fits into the existing springboard slot, extends tightly down the back of the Visor - and offers TWO springboard slots: one stacked above the other on the back.
-- the lower module would go in unside down so any top mounted controls could be accessed from the bottom.
-- would have to be removed for battery changes since the second module would cover the battery door - but that's a minor inconvenience!
-- probably one of those items that costs about $.50 to manufacture [ once designed] and would sell easily for $19.95!!
