-- MMC cards (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=5452)
Hello Everybody!!
I would like to know more about MMC cards. Like a link to a website etc.. Just anything about MMC would be great. thanx
Try this site:

Is it me or can you only get these things from a couple of places??? Also, is it me or are these things VERY expensive??? They're even more expensive than Sony's memory sticks!

Flash cards (MMC, CF, SMC) seem to be very high right now, as cell phones, Palm-whatevers, etc are keeping them in high demand. I just bought a 48MB CF card for my digital camera and it was $90!

makes you wonder what the Hitachi 448MB CF cards will sell for!
I heard a rumor that IBM is coming out with a gigabyte microdrive. Anyone else hear this?
I've heard of the IBM gigabyte microdrive, I think its an actual product also, not just some rumor. The IBM drive is of course an actual miniature drive with a platter and reader rather than stationary flash, so it eats up batteries in an hour or two.
I've heard reports that flash memory will soon be becomming even more widely produced, maybe even flooding the market. I remember a year or two ago buying an 8mb Smart Media card for $50, now you can get about 32mb for that much. Wish 64mb was more affordable for my MP3 player
In looking for MMC cards, I've only been able to find 32MB and lower capacities. The description on Sandisk's web site says it goes up to 64MB. Have these not been released or are they just in very high demand? Thanks!
I think I read on the Sandisk website that the 64 mb cards were not avaible yet. If they were I would think they would be in high demand.
BEN
PS.
$90 for 48mb's isn't that bad. Right now 32mb's from sony are $80.
Those prices aren't as bad as they were a couple years ago. My 16 MB SmartMedia card for my Rio was $60! Prices for SmartMedia are still really expensive, at least compared to MMC and CompactFlash cards.
SanDisk 64mb MMC Problem
I recently bought this MMC and found, after formatting it with Speedloader, MP3 songs skipped and chirped. Reformatting didn't help, I even used the Miniloader app's format feature on the handheld.
SanDisk exchanged it for a new card and the same thing happens.
I see other users are using SanDisk cards successfully and there doesn't seem to be any postings from other users having this problem. Could this be an issue with the formatting function in the MJ or SL software?
I'm about ready to give up on this unless anyone has a bright idea or an explanation of what could be causing the problem.
Thanks

Fred...
Try buying a Hitachi MMC card. I easily found a 64meg card online for around $60. Also, read this review on VC. It says that the transfer time between Sandisk and Hitachi cards are substantially different. The Hitachi card was almost twice as fast as the Sandisk card:

I've seen somewhere that they're supposed to coming out with 128mb MMC cards.
MMC cards
Try this url www.newegg.com
They have 64 meg mmc cards for $48.00. I have used them in my minijam with no problem.
Had same Sandisk problem
I had the same Sandisk problem contacted Sandisk and they said they are "looking into it and there is no resolution at present". They said in a second e-mail (after I pointed out that the previous response was really helpful) to return the cards. Only problem is I bought the Sandisk ones at buy.com and now I've spent about $20 in shipping to receive and send back the cards! An expensive mistake for sure and I'm sure Snadisk will not reimburse me for that even though it's their fault!
On a more positive note I bought a 64 MEG Simpletech card and it works great.
New lower prices
InnoGear now has "New lower prices" on our MMC Cards
Shine Micro has 64MB MMC's for $45
Shine Micro (http://store.shinemicro.com) has just lowered their (our) price fore 64MB MMCs to $45, with free USPS shipping.
