Going to need to get a replacement VDx

I was reading old messages here the other day when I read a comment about someone having a "loose display". I picked up my visor and realized that mine was loose too. I don't remember it always being that way. I wrote to Handspring and they tell me:

"When this happens you need to have the unit replaced. This can affect the Touch screen's response and other display related issues."

Well, yes, the screen's response had been a little strange lately but I thought it was because I wasn't used to my new stylus. After receiving their message I realized I needed my receipt to prove it was still under warranty. I finally found it and would you believe I only have 8 days until the warranty is up?
(This never happens to me. My stuff always breaks a day or two AFTER the warranty period.)

Has anyone else had the loose screen problem? Why is it not more secure? I've never drop, bumped or otherwise played catch with my visor.

My first one had the same problem. Once the warranty ran out, I fixed it by cutting a business card in half and putting it inside behind the screen. The replacement VDX I got for my VP isn't loose like that.

The looseness was caused by a tiny piece of plastic that holds the screen in place. This plastic was broken, hence the looseness.

My first VDX was the same way. Sent it back and the second one had a loose screen as well (much to my dismay). I cut about an 1/8" (maybe a little less) off the tops of a couple erasers and used them as shims inside the case hold the screen steady (they sit between the circuit board and the plastic case). It's been about over a year by now without any ill effects. One just needs to be careful in taking the case apart when "installing" the "shock absorbers".
