-- Battery Question (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=9270)
So I thought I'd be all smart and buy some rechargeable batteries for My VDx.
Problem is I'm not the brightest and now realize i'll have to pull my batteries out to charge them
How long can i leave the visor without batteries without losing all my memory?
and if I leave it in the cradle would it last longer?
thanks,
Mark
I don't use rechargeables myself but I think most people who do have two sets and rotate them. I think Handspring suggests that you leave the batteries out for no more than a minute; but I think that in practice the amount of time your data will be preserved varies widely (from a few seconds to several minutes).
At least 2 sets are a definite must when using rechargeables for a VDx...

alright so I bought another set of batteries but I'm still curious how long the visor can be left battery-less without losing it's memory?
everything goes after about a min, wish it has some backup like my phone

Battery charge
Also don't forget when they start to go they go fast! They also don't seem to have mush residue power left to sustain the memory even after they stop operating the unit.

Battery changing
If the battery's low to begin with, you have little margin for error.
And DON'T make the stupid mistake I did: my batteries drained to the point where I got that "perform a hotsync to preserve your data" message, and I stupidly decided that I would be better off changing the batteries FIRST, rather than risk them getting drained even further during a sync. BAD CHOICE -- I did the entire swap in about 10 seconds, even changing them only one at a time (I know, I know, technically it still breaks the circuit, but I thought it might help somehow), and I still lost all my data (fortunately, I sync daily, so it was only a day's worth of entries, most of which I could recall and re-enter).
