i think so...

I don't see why you wouldn't be able to use the phone and the visor at the same time. It should support an earpiece, and so you could talk into the visor and use it to look up info at the same time.

True it's not made for wireless internet, but it is possible. It just runs at 9600baud like the palm VII.

Are you sure this unit includes a modem at all? The story implies otherwise.

If it doesn't have a modem, I can't see the big advantage to purchasing this thing, particularly given the price.

You can use it as a modem, just like you can any cell phone. That's what the story said. It just said that wasn't it's main design, and they were testing to see if anyone did use it as a modem.

No, you can't use any cell phone like a modem. You can use any GSM phone like a modem, but CDMA and TDMA phones often leave that capability out.

Trust me, if I could use my TMDA Nokia 6160 as a modem I'd be a happy camper right now.

I stand corrected, but given that it's a GSM cell phone, you can still use it like a modem like I've said.

I have Sprint PCS which is CDMA. According to Sprint's (FAQ #2) , the modem is within the the network, so a modem at the user end is NOT required. I've logged into my ISP with my desktop and with my Visor (with a cradle) via my PCS phone and a serial cable. No problem connecting at 14,400 bps. I'm no big fan of Sprint's somewhat spotty service, but this part works (at an additional charge ~$10/month.) The buzz is that the CDMA network will eventually ramp up 10 fold to about 144,000 bps.

I am still using the original Pilot 5000 (without backlight), and I will definitely be buying a new Handspring in October.

My issue with the color version is the rechargeable Li-Ion battery. I love that my Alkaline batteries only need to be replaced every 2 months, and my Palm is like new again.
Lithium Ion batteries will just get older, and lose capacity with each recharging cycle (about 20% per year).

Does this bother anyone else? Anyone have experience with a rechargeable Palm? Please give us the information we crave...
