Question USB to serial cradle?

Hello,

Since my USB cradle doesn't work when I connecting it to my laptop's dockingstation, I thought I just get a serial cradle for my Prism and try to connect that to the serial port of the dockingstation. However, the serial cradles are nowhere to be found anymore -in the Netherlands- since the Prism was taken out of production.
So that's why I got the idea to make my USB cradle into a serial one...Does anybody have an idea if this is possible and if it's hard to do? I'm not a real handyman I have to admit...E.g. Where can I get the connector?
Ofcourse it would be much easier, if somebody in this Forum has a serial Prism cradle lying around and would like to sell it...:-)
Thanks

What if you just bought one of those USB to Serial connectors? That would be the easiest way to go no wires to cut or anything. I know I have seen serial to PS2 adapters and USB to PS2 adapters, but not a USB to Serial yet. Then again I really had no need to look for one.

Cool Go Purple!

If you just want a cable and not an entire cradle, go to www.pcables.com. I bought a purple data cable to connect my Prism to the serial ports of PLC's (programmable logic controllers) so I can use PocketHMI to browse their data tables.

The one I bought was:

3ft VISOR TRAVEL HOTSYNC CABLE, CONNECTS VISOR PRISM PDA TO A SERIAL PORT, PART # PDCH-H9, $34.99

- Chip

RE: USB to serial cradle

Hello,

Well, my first thought was indeed to get a connector for USB to serial, but the guy in the PC shop told me, that you cannot go from USB to serial. I tried several shops, but I couldn't find any USB->Serial adapters..
So, my best try will to get a hitsync cable now.
Thanks for thinking along.

i believe Belkin makes a USB->serial adapter, but when i was checking into these devices, they were in the $90USD price range.

I'd go with the cable. that'll be the cheapest and easiest solution.
