-- Trouble loading Palm Desktop onto Laptop (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=8586)

Help?
I recently 'upgraded' my laptop to Windows 98 from 95. I want to use the laptop at work and be able to use my USB cradle, but I can't load the software! I try to use the Handspring CD to load the program, but it freezes at the second screen! I can use the CD-Rom to load anything else it seems, just not my beloved Palm Desktop software (I know it's not either of the Handspring disk I have- they both freeze in the same place). The kicker is that I had previously used the Palm Desktop software on the machine when it was running 95.
I really need the software on the laptop. I don't care about any of the info on the machine right now, so I don't mind starting from scratch if I have too. I am computer functional, but not the brightest light on the xmas tree, so if anybody wants to try to guide me through this- please feel free to give me some free advice!
Thanks,
BobbyMike

Do files get embarrassed when they get unzipped?

I don't know if it will make a difference, but did you try uninstalling the the version you had under Win95 first? If ToolkiT's suggestion doesn't work try uninstalling Win98 (Win95 will return as you had it if you chose that option before installing Win98), then unstalling Palm Desktop and re-installing Win98 and Palm Desktop. I know it sounds tedious but that's what I would do.

I'll try that when I get home tonight.
