is there a way to install programs without hotsynching?I have found programs that do this but they only support serial and not the visors usb capabilities.

I assume you mean that you don't want the visor synchronized with the PC when you only want to install a program. You can do this with the Palm Desktop software. Under HotSync, select custom and change all of the conduit actions to "Do Nothing" except for the Install conduit. Seems like more trouble than it's worth IMHO... You can also set each of the actions to behave this way by default by checking the little box, but if you don't, you will have to change the actions each time you want to install.

There is another option... check out this Tips/Tricks page from PalmGear. I used the info to create an "Install Only" configuration for loading applications. Works great!

Find someone who already has the app you want installed on their Visor. If they use something like BeamBox, you can beam someone any "unlocked" application.
