"- Fixes occasional hang on Capturing screen".. Yes. this is much improved

Unfortunately this release did not fix the frame capture. I've taken a piture of an object. His eyes are wide open on the Prism's viewer. Once synced his eyes are wide shut on the jpeg.

No complaints. I will admit that the image was sharp. Very crisp and not blurry. Thanks for the continued support.

Angry color movies on visor deluxe

I hope the next update for the eyemodule 2 will allow me to take color movies on my visor deluxe. I still dont understand why you cant do this in the first place. If you can take color photos on a visor deluxe why cant you take color movies. I am going to contact Blocks Products and see what they have to say about all of this. If anyone else out there would like this done please contact them too. The more emails they get about this the more they might do something about it. here is there email address: [email protected]

Battery Improvement

I haven't synced yet but I've been meaning to take a voltmeter and find out just why a set of batteries that shows as full doesn't have the power to capture images. Has anybody else had this problem? Does the update fix it?

First impression on the update is quite positive. Image capture takes significantly less time. And it functions at much lower battery settings.
(But I haven't actually looked at any of the photos, so I don't know if this comes at a cost in quality. One would hope not.)

While I agree an update to allow taking color movies on a B&W visor would be welcome, I certainly wouldn't want to hold up releasing updates like these.

I only updated the .prc -- Updating the conduit is a pain for me, because I use a non-standard directory. Anything else in there besides allowing uppercase extensions?

Thanks

Dennis

The whole issue with EyeMod2 and rechargeable batteries is fixed. I called Block Products Tech Support on Monday regarding this issue and the response was:

"Handspring doesn't recommend using rechargeable batteries, therefore we are bound by those guidelines when creating the module." ---total bull****----

At here it is 3 days later and an update comes out that fixes the problem, go figure.

Now those of us with rechargeable batteries don't have to .7 to change to the standard battery setting for taking pictures.

Now about the conduit.....

I'm running Win2000pro and can't get the conduit to install. The setup screen goes to 99% then stales for a while. The second time thru I let it just keep going and the program just stopped and the setup screen disappeared. I even rebooted and tried again. Then I uninstalled the prior version of the conduit and tried to install the new version.... still no luck.

Last resort was to put the original conduit back in. It installs just fine.

Anybody else having this problem?

Disregard Conduit Install issue....

This time I let the new conduit install continue to run and watched in task manager to see that it was still running. It just took a long time between the setup screen and the actual install program to start.

Everything is updated and fine now.....

What does the EyeModule2 "About" screen show as a version number after you do the flash update? I did it and it still shows v 1.11 (not 2.0). I tried a couple of times. Did Blocks just forget to change this on the About screen, or didn't my update work? How can I tell if it is a different version, if not by the version number?

Thanks.

Once you've plugged your EM2 back onto your unit, it should change to "2.0" Mine did. . .

The same thing happened to me. But if you read carefully, the instructions say that after you flash the module you have to delete the EyeModule app from the visor. (This will also delete all your photos on the visor, so prepare.) Then when you reinsert the module, you'll have the 2.0 version.

You might have to delete the program....

Take out your eyemod2.
delete the program eye2(3.1) using the normal delete method.
insert the eyemod2.

If the eyemod2 flash updater worked correctly, your ver in the about screen will say 2. You can now delete the updater program also.

Yes, thanks for your help. I had to delete the Eye2 program, then remove and reinsert the module, before it shows version 2.0.

I successfully updated the eyemodule2 sofware on my Visor and it does say v2.0 when I stick the module in the Prism, but one questtion- are you positive that you can delete the updater program afterwards? It didn't specifically say that on the eyemodule web page and I was reluctant to do it until someone else has already tried it.

Yes, delete the updater. That's standard procedure after you update the flash on SpringPort modules.

Question Eye applications - how many?

Hello,
please tell me how many eye application icons do you have on your Visor? After eyemodule2 is incerted I can see three of them in Unfiled section: tho named eye2(3.1) and one eyemod2. Is it OK?

Posted by miradu on 06-28-2001 02:19 PM:

Make sure that you have no picutres installed. Than delete the Eye2 programs. (not eyecontact.. ) Than put your module back in. It will install the appropirate software.

I'm just thinking though.. That could be the flash updater program.. is it?

Actually I have no picture installed. But I notice the interesting thing. The situation I described is true for Silver Screen. The icons which appeared in Untitled section have little black squares on left side (shortcuts?). If I exit Silver Screen - everything is OK - there is only one application icon. So such a behaviour might be Silver Screen feature ))

Posted by jenesis on 06-28-2001 05:40 PM:

The little squares indicate programs that are on the module itself--that would be true for any module. The applications are kept on the module so that when you plug it in, it downloads the software onto the visor. I don't think it will let you delete anything on the module.

The "eye2(3.1)" is for Visor Deluxes, and the "eyemod2" is for all Visors with PalmOS 3.5. It knows which one to install when you plug it in.

Posted by soukhov_dmitri on 06-29-2001 05:43 AM:

jenesis,
thank you for clear explanation. I see why there are three application signs. Two of them are corresponded to SW resided on EM2 another one - located in RAM.
BTW do you know any application (or maybe a way) to see full-size pictures in full resolution without exporting/importing them to/from PC? I mean without using EM2 SW.

Question updater broke my eyemodule2 !

I ran the eyemodule2 v2.0 updater on my Visor Pro with my eyemodule2 (containing v1.11 software) installed. I installed the updater .prc file and ran it on the Visor. It got stuck about 1/3rd through the process. I waited really long but finally had to reset my Visor.

I now have a broken eyemodule2: it won't work since it now has partially overwritten software on-board. Running the updater again is impossible: it refuses because of an incompatible version on the module. Indeed!

What can I do now? How can I get my eyemodule2 back to life?

I sure hope someone can help!
