Question

Once the SixPak is finally released, allowing me to plug my visor into my cell phone, so what?

What kind of applications can I do with this? Are there programs that will allow the visor to send or receive faxes? Is sending and receiving e-mail viable over a cell connection. Does it make a difference if the cell phone is digital or analog? Will I be able to surf the web? Can someone please explain to me the attraction of Regis Philby?

I would greatly appriciate input, because a Visor and a cell phone sound like two things that would be cool together, I'm just not sure what the limitations are.

Talking

Well, I currently use my Visor deluxe, IR sync and a Motorola L series phone to do the following:

Update my e-mail while mobile
Update my AvantGO preselected web sites.
Get 20 minute delayed quotes using Avantgo and Bloomberg (free)
Faxing (working on it)

Yes, you can fax with a PCS unit. I'm a little biased, but GSM technology proves a little more consistent. I have used the NOKIA 9000 and had no big issues.

So, until Bluetooth comes around, I think the visor and an IR capable phone is the way to go.

Question

I have a Siemens S25 phone and want to do the same thing - the software I have downloaded (as an example GSMTool to send SMS from Visor) requires the enhanced IRDa Palm software, which I have read causes problems on the Visor.

Is there other software that is "safe"? The Siemens site said it needs enhanced Irda for the software they have "officially" tested on a PalmIII.

Thanks in advance,
Darren
