The fire seems to have died under innogear. Let me first give a little background from my experience.

My wife ordered my minijam for me for Christmas. Almost didn't get it.(she had to really scream she said) It did work out of the box, but I could not get the mjloader or the minijukebox loader to work. I called customer service late christmas night, got a real person, and she could not fix the issue over the phone. I had to ship it back. With the flat panel speakers which came with no external power supply.

They came for my minijam the next day.(fedex) Then I found out, they were on backorder and I would not be getting a replacement any time soon. Two weeks later, after several heated discussions with Innogear, my new minijam and speakers arrived. With the same issues as before. Turns out, the original minijam was probably fine, I just didn't know it didn't work with hotsync manager running. I still can't use minijukebox to load the minijam. And my speakers came with no external power supply.

I am now using a generic dc converter for my speakers. My mmc card only shows 61000K available, and I can't get a picture or a book on mmc. Innogear customer support is worthless, so I come to you. My knowledgable friends of the net.
1. Did any one get flat panel speakers from innogear which came with external power?(they sound great by the way)
2. What do your mmc say on capacity?
3. Has anyone successfully loaded a book or photo on mmc and read it/viewed it on a visor screen?
4. If so (see #3) how?

Innogear sucks. I'm with slacker. But I don't hope they go bankrupt. This is one of my favorite toys.

Only thing you can put on the MMC cards is mp3's right now..

I'd at least like to buy the USB speedloader (was due Nov/2000!) even if it is slow.

I agree, I really wish they would get their freaking act together.. (at least long enough to release an update that lets you put other data on the mmc cards, then they can go under).. I have given up waiting for this update.. I am now waiting for a company that is making a SMARTCARD springboard to do what the minijam failed to do {as one of the major minijam features}.. (see http://www.memplug.com ) I have a digital camera that uses smartmedia so it will workout really well.. Don't get me wrong, I love my minijam, I am just disappointed with innogear, they seem to have lost their focus.. what a pity. I can only hope they make up for all of this nonsense in some way ...

Check out the geode at Geodiscovery.com. They don't have mmc support YET, but they seem serious. Rather high dollar for just data storage, but I want the GPS too. This keeps me in one media as well. One can only hope. what does your card say on capacity. mine says 619XX K.

I pre-ordered a GEODE! Hope to get it soon! According to one of the folks there, you can use a normal (off the shelf) USB MMC writer for their springboard..!! Innogear has a "private" format, so you have to buy their USB MMC card reader/writer whenever they decide to bless us with it. At this point I would still get it even if it was slow, at least it's something. That will probably be the last thing I get from them. I think that the usb MMC reader should have been part of the standard MiniJam package, I think they should ship it free to all those (like my self) who pre-ordered their MiniJam.. ! It's been a long time to be out in the cold Innogear..

My minijam (64mb MMC) capacity says 61985K (which seems about right allowing for overhead of the formatting itself, all media has some overhead required for formatting)

thanks

Thanks. I didn't know. I'm not sure if the mmc loader will work with the geode either. If it does, then the february update would be a moot point, huh?

Although both units use MMC's cards, you can't use cards formatted in/for the GEODE (or any non-Innogear formatted card for that matter) the MiniJam uses a private (or proprietary) format on the MMC card, it will just look empty/unformatted to the minijam, so for MiniJam use, you are S-O-L, you MUST use the (yet to be released USB reader/writer from Innogear) or use the MJLoader to transfer music to the Minijam's MMC card. Those are your only choices.

Now the GEODE is a different story.. According to what I read, Any off the shelf MMC reader should work fine. LIFE IS GOOD! (for the Geode anyway), this means you can put all manner of data onto the MMC card.. The GEODE will see it, the minijam won't..

10:1, I bet Geodiscovery gets their update out before Innogear does.. Innogears update (for MMC support) was supposed to be out in November 2000.

Has anyone checked up on the folks at Innogear, maybe they all died and no one has found their bodies yet...? Would explain why they have been so quiet lately...

I am SO glad I didn't wait for the MiniJam upgrade. I originally purchased the MJ to store NON-Mp3 files on it. I didn't really have any interest in turning my Visor into a MP3 player. Sure, it was fun for the first week or so, but then I found that it was just sitting there - not being used most of the time. I was waiting for the software upgrade that would allow me to store ebooks, dictionaries, etc on the MMC's. I kept calling Innogear, but just kept getting "I have no information on that", or "coming soon" responses. I finally returned it, with a note on why. It was a great MP3 player - worked fine, but I wasnt able to use it as I originally intended.

I sold my Visor Deluxe to a co-worker, and used that money, plus the returned MJ money to buy a Prism. Im happy for the most part, but Im still waiting for a module with a lot more ram - one that lets me read directly from it - just like Handsprings 8mb Flash module.
