We've seen the carnage, we've seen the shots fired, now let's meet the players.

I thought the current adapters didn't support Type II CF cards?

I think I still prefer the idea of the InnoPocket but it looks like the MemPlug is out now and I think thats best one for me - I already have a 2mb & 8mb SmartMedia cards laying around. I'd go for CF if they stored the apps on some sort of flash memry, until then its rather useless as a backup utility.

Thumbs up Type I/Type II

Type I and Type _connectors_ are identical. The Type II card itself is a little fatter.

The good news is; the MatchBookDrive w/Type II support allows Smart Media users to take an adapter like this one(http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/A...rionsconstellat) and use SM and CF. That's a plus. I have a 32MB one hanging around that I can use...

The review

Sorry Scott, but I thot your review conclusion was rather "safe". Clearly, the innopocket product was clearly a more superior product, in more ways than one...the price point, the snugness, free delivery etc etc. As a reviewer, I'd much rather you folks be straight to the point, rather than worry about offending whoever the manufacturer is.

My order just went out to innopocket.

My initial reaction to the MatchBookDrive was: 'Hated it'. I seemed to have been one of the 1st 250 people to receive the 'hand cut' opening, which was awful considering I spent $30 + Shipping on a product that must have cost all of $3 to manufacture (All of the parts are off the shelf).

With the annnouncement for Type II support (I have the exact same SmartMedia to CF Adapter as shown in the article shipping to me as we speak), I'm starting to warm to it. I have emailed MBD to see what I have to do to get one. Frankly speaking, I want one for free to replace the handcut one that I have. If I have to pay $4 for it, I'll cut the opening in my MBD myself.

I wonder if we'll be seeing the Saturn Torture Test used in other product reviews?

"And the Eyemodule survived being driven over by the Saturn, but failed miserably in the Sherman tank runover test."

Lightbulb HEY!

Yo Scott (or Marcus),

Have you guys actually tried using the Pretec SmartMedia to CF Adapter (pictured in the article) in the MatchBookDrive or InnoPocket? I have on on the way and would like to know for sure if it works? Thanks.
