- Springboard Modules (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/forumdisplay.php?forumid=10)
-- Curious. How many Springboards do YOU have? (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=11989)

0!

I have 0 Springboard modules, as I'm still waiting for one that has practical application for me and is worth the price. In the future? If the SoundsGood comes down in price and the EyeModule2 looks like it has some potential. And of course a SprintPCS VisorPhone I'd sell my car for one of those...

Posted by Craig_L_S on 02-19-2001 05:08 PM:

Springboard modules I have are:
1 OmniRemote Universal Remote Control
1 Eyemodule Digital Camera -- It is being returned do to hotsync issues.

Within the next few months I intend to acquire:
1 Backup module
1 ThinModem+

The jury is still out on these modules only because I am undecided on features or price.
1 SoundsGood audioplayer, or MiniJam MP3 Player
1 OmniSky Minstrel Wireless Modem (Only if it can be used in Asia, US, Eusope & the Middle East without changing ISPs)
1 Hagiwara 16 MB Module

In order of acquisition:

 Handspring 33.6k modem
 Eyemodule
 Backup Module

on the way (I hope - haven't heard/received anything yet )
 Matchbook Drive CF adapter

I think non-springboard attachments should get an honorable mention:
 Stowaway Keyboard
 Cables4pdas.com Motorola data cable
 Home-made battery extender.

Next most likely acquisition:
 Eyemodule 2

An MP3 player or GPS would be neat, but not at the current prices. Ditto with the Omniremote.

1 Backup module
2 8 Meg Flash ("Work Programs" and QuoVadis "Maps")
1 Innogear 2V (Flash loaded with "Games")
1 Visorphone
1 Minijam
1 Handspring Modem

Matchbook Drive on order.

My next purchase will probably be the Geode, once they release the software which allows you to keep maps on the MMC card.

I've just got a backup module. I also have a StowAway. Once I find a wireless modem with cheaper monthly service, I'll get serious about picking that one up too.

I have three and could see myself with a couple more. (although an Altoid tin makes a pretty good storage right now with one in the slot and two in the pocket.) I also have a "bike brain" which, I guess isn't a Springboard module, but you can use that info however you like.

OK, so I posted then began reading, and saw that everyone's telling which ones they have and want. Like to hear it? Here it go.

1) Eyemodule- have it, love it, wish it was an eyemodule 2 now.
2) 8mb Flash- bought while on vacation when the eyemodule stuffed my available memory halfway through the week.
3) Omniremote- won it in the X-Mas contest- I use the built-in LED flashlight more than the remote.

Would like future modules to get me more connected (maybe thin modem) and give me more storage. (CF Adaptor?)

Lightbulb

I have the following modules:

1 Backup Module
1 8M Flash Module
1 Magellan GPS Companion
1 Eyemodule Classic
1 OmniRemote
1 ThinCom Modem

I am considering another flash mod maybe the 16M or another 8M. I'm also interested in a wireless mod but don't think it is justified yet. The Audible Advisor sounds cool but I wish it had voice recorder capability.

Extra on-board memory for software is a very important feature and I think modules of the future should all pay attention to this detail.

1 8 MB Flash
1 16 MB Flash
1 Handspring 33.6 Modem
1 Franklin Holy Bible
1 Tale Light (don't ask me why.)
1 Pocket Express Ent Pack
1 Eyemodule
1 Eyemodule 2
_____

12 total - but I need more
(if they can make an am/fm radio work - I will be te first in line

To elaborate on my first post:

Right now I only have the Back-up module. I would probably have another if I didn't go for my Nokia 8290. I also have a Stowaway which is a nice add-on even if it isn't a SB.

The two I'm planning on getting relatively soon are the Matchbook drive adapter and the Eyemodule 2.

HAVE THE BACKUP MODULE AND THE 8 MB FLASH MODULE. I AM CONSIDERING GETTING THE 16MB FLASH MODULE AND/OR THE NEW THINCOM PLUS MODEM. IF ANY ONE HAS EITHER OF THESE I WOULD LIKE YOU OPINION. IN ADDITION I ALSO HAVE THE STOWAWAY KEYBOARD.

Backup Module
SoundsGood
Dictionary
Memory Access
(the memory works but I can't sync with it and the alarms don't work because I have a prism)

Magellan GPS Companion

I also have a stowaway, a sport case, & a travel charger

I am looking at the eyemodule 2, a modem which will connect to my cell phone & support fax, the bible, an 8 or 16mb flash module or a cf adapter, & a visorphone if it can be used with my AT&T service.

Talking i have 3

1. Backup
2. Thincomm modem
3. Magellan GPS

I also have the stowaway keyboard.

I would love an mp3 player (my heart is et on the soundsgood) but paying ~$250 to listen to music offends my sensibilities. I prefer not to go over $150 for a module on principle.

Posted by matty on 02-20-2001 12:58 PM:

Cool

3 lookin for 3 more:

have:
HS modem
backup
8mb flash

have not:
eyemodule (2, i guess)
voice recorder -- also unimpressed by current offerings
more flash.

also, way happy w/stowaway.

I have 3 springboards:

InnoPak 2/V
MiniJam
Minstrel S (YY)

I may have a 4th in the near future. The E2 is really tempting.

DBrown,
How long did you think it would last without people saying which SB'sthey had?

kmendez,
Which of your MP3 players do you listen to most?

Posted by kmendez on 02-20-2001 09:05 PM:

minijam, as it hold more music, but the soundsgood is the one that I use when using the game face since the gameface does not fit when using the minijam.
also the soundsgood I use it when running or on the bike with its battery pack, so I dont worry about the prism.
