-- best gps mapping software??? help!!! (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=13347)
Recently got a magellan gps companion and I love it, but i want to be able to mark waypoints on maps, and download routes to pda to be used with gps. I know solus is capable of this, but everyone here says it will not sutain a fix with the gps companion. has anyone got a better solution that has been tested like handmap or some other program??? Any first hand feedback would be a major major help! thanx in advance...

You can do most of that with the included NAV Companion software but downloading is the problem, you have to enter this right on the Visor. What I do is is plan my trip on my PC using MS streets and trips. I then use the location sensor in streets and trips to display the longitude and latitude and hand enter this into NAV companion as a waypoint. You can then mannually string several waypoints together as a route.
I have already sent Magellan a suggestion that being able to download / upload wayponts and routes would be a good enhancement to the sotware. Send them an email and ask for the same thing.
