Well me and my Blue Visor just got back from the airport, and it has decided not to work. I tried to Hotsync, no response. So I took it out of the cradle and tried to powerup normally - no response again. So I try a soft reset - this time the display comes on and shows random looking vertical lines. I soft reset again - same thing. I tried a hard reset, and now the unit won't respond to *anything* - it won't power up at all. I've got the batteries out now - I'll see if that helps. I'm thinking I'll have to return the unit. It didn't suffer any unusual stress (it had the cover on inside the leather-looking case that came with it) and was inside a briefcase - normal carry-on baggage conditions. Any thoughts on what could be the problem?

Hate to ask the obvious, but...low batteries? Your description fits with the symptoms from such a problem. (I know the dead-battery symptoms because I had the same reaction you're having when I accidentally installed ALREADY dead batteries.)

They were brand new batteries, but just to prove to myself that I'm not an idiot, I changed them again. It's still dead. I guess I'll get on the phone with support today...

Try removing the batteries for half an hour and see if that clears it up (you will lose all of your data).

Tried that too
The Handspring tech (real nice guy) that I talked to offered to replace the broken unit - and he didn't even make me try all kinds of goofy corrections just to make sure I knew it was broken (once a hard reset didn't work, he just told me I'd get a new one).

I'm impressed - but I'm without my Visor for two weeks now!

Cool

Ummmmmm, did you, perchance, send your Visor through the X-ray machine at the airport?

Talking

It should not be the x-ray machine. I have sent my GVDX throught 4 time now with not one problem.

Unhappy

I agree bjmarler. I've been through both x-ray and metal detectors at the airport -- never a problem.
