Does anyone have any reliable info on when the Thinmodem+ will be available?

From the VC COMDEX article:

quote:
Card Access is coming out with an expanded Thinmodem+ that comes with all of the features of the standard Thinmodem but also has 8MB of memory. Street date is January with pricing not set at this time.

I received this email from Card Access 11/29/00:

quote:
...Our plan is to ship the ThinmodemPlus with the
V.90 code, version 2.0 of Browse-it (which has color support, and increased robustness), and a full e-mail application. I believe that we are looking at "One Touch" e-mail from JP Systems to ship with ThinmodemPlus. The ThinmodemPlus will not ship with fax capability.

Another email (12/13/00) concerning cost and possible release date:

quote:
The figures that I have been told are: Jan. 15 for the release of the ThinmodemPlus, and it will sell for $149.95.

I hope this means that the V.90 patch for the regular thinmodem will also be available in mid-January.

to wait or not to wait

well, this brings up the question of whether or not to wait for the $150 (estimated) thinmodem+ or go out and buy a thinmodem for $120

what does everyone think??

$30 for 8MB is good. Patience is a virtue. Good things come to those who wait. Need I say more?

I don't think there's any question to be answered. As cptncelchu pointed out, $30 for 8mb of Flash RAM is good. And we're really only talking a matter of weeks here (assuming the predictions are true).

Of course, if you're that impatient, I'll give you a really good deal on a regular Thinmodem.
