-- My Encounter With Customer Service. (Some interesting return/repair stuff) (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=879)
I phoned handspring customer service today! It was one of the most gratifying experiences I have had this new year. Now I Can Sleep
. I phoned them for 2 reasons: First, I have a minor defect on my screen that shows up as a little bumpy grid in high glare conditions. Small granted, but annoying. Second, I phoned because I would prefer to not use screen protection (i know plenty of people who don't) and was wondering if my screen ever got scratched to hell and back if i could just replace it instead of the visor.
This is what the wonderful customer service rep said:
He told me i could get a new visor shipped out to me to replace the even minorly defective one. I could keep mine till then, and ship it back within 14 days of getting the replacement.
As for screen repair, he told me it could be replaced voluntarily for 75$ if i scratched up my screen in a year or so and wanted it fixed.
Phew, i'm glad to know that if my screen defect bugs me, i've got another 20 days (or maybe even a year, remember the warranty against defects is 1-year long, and this is a defect) to order a replacement. And if i don't want to invest $30 US (+ shipping/handling) per year to protect my screen...i can wait 18 months and get it replaced for 75 bucks....
Yay handspring, even if i do send mine back, you've managed to convince me to keep doing business with you. 3com wishes they were as nice as you are.

That was great information to read. I was wondering about the screen issue myself. Where can I find a screen protector for my Visor? I didn't even know you could get them?..
try writerights (spelling?) you can find them at www.palmgear.com
I got my WriteRights and PDAPanache Stylus today. Both go a LONG way to fixing the Screen Scratch problem.
I also had a very good experience with someone in HandSpring management. They've asked me to beta test an EndUser Screen Replacement procedure and I've agreed to do that. I should be getting my repl. screen soon.
They've also setup a hotline for ScreenScratch issues. See the thread [email protected] for more info.
jsheremeta, I noticed you're here in Portland. You may want to check CompUSA, Franklin Covey stores, or Fry's in Wilsonville. I've not looked for WriteRights yet, but these would be the only places in the area that I can think of.
edited: I just checked Office Max, and they have a pack of 12 for $18.99.
