Question

I received my compact flash adapter module (short version) last week (built by Tyler). But I don't know what type of compact flash cards i can buy to fit it in. Can someone please shed some light on this for me? There seems to be different types of compact flash cards...pretty confusing.

This is an informal list of known CF cards that will and won't work with the CF adapter as compiled from the FlashAdapter Forum on eGroups. The latest version of the beta software can be found there as well.

Question What Type

Does it use Type II compact flash cards or type I? Does it matter?

It currently uses Type I. Read about it here.

Can someone please direct me to the web site (if it exists) that is manufacturing these adaptors for compact flash memory cards.

It's interesting to note that the Lexar CF cards are different than most. The recent ones have USB support built-in. I wonder if this is why they don't work.

Currently, it's a do-it-yourself project, though there are a few people building them for resale... check the Buy/Sell/Exchange forum. Supposedly, someone has obtained the rights to mass produce them but nothing has been formally announced yet.

If you'd like to make your own, you can get all the details here.

No, that's not the reason. My Lexar 4MB card is not the new "Jumpshot" one that Lexar sells. The "Jumpshot" ones have the USB interface in them.

Lexar just didn't seem to follow the CompactFlash standard very well. A few other cards have the similar problems.
