Unhappy

I left a post below about a screen flicker problem I was having. I thought I could correct the problem with a flicker/streak hack. Well it didnt work. I even did a hard reset on my visor and the problem IS STILL THERE. I'm all out of ideas. Its a Visor deluxe. When I turn it on the screen either has 4 stripes of non led going verticaly or the whole screen fades out... when I turn on the back light it works fine.
When I turn it off it looks like garbage. Ive tried new batteries. Ive only had it for 4 days and this problem just started this morning. Obviously i'm crushed. I guess the only thing left for me to do is to return it and wait another 2 months for a new one, unless anyone out there has any ideas to help me. Thanks.

Someone else said you may have to do the Hard reset 4 or 5 times to be sure it is cleaned out. You might try that.

There was a short article in the last Pen Computing (I think it was this magazine. I read it in a bookstore)listing a similar problem in the Palm III series. At the time I was using a Palm III. The work-around was to open the case and check that the ribbon connection going to the screen was securely seated. My Palm was already out of warranty at the time and so I gave it a shot. Sure enough, the ribbon was not seated properly and when I pushed it in, everything was working AOK. Now in the Palm III the stylus, as it is being slid into the Palm, goes right against the ribbon and that is likely why it happened. I am not recommending that you open your Visor unless you get a specific OK from Handspring Tech. I suspect they will tell you the warranty is void if you open it.
