-- VDX and CDMA Cellphone (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=11513)

I've been very happy with my VDX, and was hoping I would be able to use it with my existing cell-phone (Samsung SCH-3500)... In Canada, GSM is available, but out of my range. CDMA is the capability offered by my provider (Bell Mobility). They have released a product called the "Digital Data to Go Kit" which allows one to connect to the internet,
with their Notebook/Palmtop, via a serial connection.

My problem is that the Visor is a USB connection. I spoke to a salesperson at a kiosk who adivsed me they would only release an adapter for the "Palm".

Does anyone know if it would be possible to use this serial connection with my VDX? Some type of adapter or contraption that will let me use my existing phone with this Data Kit.

Thank you in advance,
Frank

First of all, the Visor is USB and serial... though the serial is not a full implementation (no control signals) plus it's TTL level and not true RS232. I know, technical mumbo jumbo...

You can read through this rather long thread where connections to cell phones have been hashed out already. Cables4PDA's is supposedly working on a dedicated cable for the Samsung phone. You might also be able to use a MarkSpace DataCord in conjunction with the Samsung cable to connect.
