-- Technical question: TCP/IP Port for Network HotSync (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=14105)
I'm trying to set up my VPr so that it'll HotSync over the Internet. My desktop is on a network with DSL, and I can set up the DSL modem to forward specific ports to my computer. What port does Network HotSync use?
Thanks.

Visor and NetworkHotSync
I don't believe this is possible yet. I believe I read on Handspring's site that Network HotSync is not yet supported. However, I just browsed their site to give you a more definite response and I couldn't find any info on it (I could have sworn that I read it there before).
You may want to contact Handspring directly to find out if they have an update that supports Network HotSync'ing. If they do, do me a favor and post a reply to this thread. I wouldn't mind doing the same myself
Thanks,
Jon

i don't know what port network hotsyncing uses, but i have done it successfully on my Platinum.
On remote and home PCs, right-click the hotsynch icon and check Network. Then on remote and home PCs, right-click hotsync and go to Setup. In the network panel, enter the netmask of your network if it's non-standard. On the Home PC, also check off the username to make it the primary PC.
On the Visor, go to the Hotsync app, Menu/Primary PC Setup. Enter the hostname, IP and netmask of the home PC. Then go to Menu/LANSync Prefs, select LANSync.
Plug the cradle into the remote PC. Place the Visor into the cradle, and hit the sync button. Hopefully if all works well, the hotsync progress panel will pop up and you'll see Status: Forwarding to.
I've done this with a networked laptop sitting next to my desktop (the home PC). The laptop establishes a connection to the desktop, the hotsync panel pops up and you can follow the progress of what's going on. Kinda neat

Ports 14237-8 are used for Network syncing. I had go into my firewall and forward these ports to the computer that does the syncing.
Make sure that the HotSync program has Network checked. Then for the primary PC name put it "!!". I believe this is what I had to do to get it to work.
Search this site for other threads that give instructions on successfully syncing over a network. I was even able to do it over the wireless network.
