-- HP IR Inkjet for Palm OS (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=9571)

Posted by MHCohn on 11-20-2000 02:40 PM:

While looking for a photo quality inkjet this weekend for my Canon digital camera, I ran accross the HP 1215. This, and it's older model (1100, I think) are the only inkjets I've ever seen with IR ports.

Well, I bought it (the color photos are incredible, plus you can print directly from a SmartMedia or CF card). To my surprize and delight, it came with a CD Rom containing an IR printer prc from ISComplete, which allows IR printing from a Palm and of course a Visor, of Datebook, Addressbook, To Do Lists Memo pad and e-mail entries.

The text comes out really nicely reformatted on the page

IR printing

I've used an HP LaserJet 6p with the built in IR and it worked great, So did a LaserJet 5 w/ external IR. There is a company that sells add-on IR for ANY printer. I think their site is http://www.actisys.com The device is $99, Kinda pricey, but if you already have an expensive printer.....

Do files get embarrassed when they get unzipped?

The 1215 is $399, but the slightly older 1100 is $299. The only real difference is that the 1215 has a sensor to determine the type of paper you've put in and adjust print settings based on that. Both have IR, the same print speed, resolution and both print directly from smart media or CF cards and both can use USB.
