i was just looking for some cases for my visor 2mb. i like titanium because it's sopposidly the strongest known alloy made. but then i saw the price........$99 dollars! i wandered if titanium is really worth that much? also id like to know if anyone owns this case or the aluminum version. then could you reply with these answeres?

1. can it store an extra styli
2. does it feel durable
3. do you think it protects your visor
4. can you notice a big difference with the case in your pocket instead of just the visor
5. do you think its worth the $50 or $99 dollars
6. does it feel chunkey in your pocket or more noticable
7. is it easy to slide open
8. is the visor held securly in the case

Here's a review of the Ti Slider. I believe the aluminum model is identical except for the material.

I've had my ti case for well over a year using it with my vdx as well as my vpl with no problems, I love it to death. On to the questions:
1. Not enough space for extra stylus

2. Feels like Fort Knox, you're not going to find a more durable case.

3. Above, you could drive a tank over the thing and I'd bet the visor would be just fine.

#'s 4&6 It is a touch on the heavy side and you can notice it in your pants but you buy this case when you need protection not slim form or beauty.

5. I work in a very difficult environment and this case has saved my unit more times than I'd like to admit. To better answer the question how much do you value your visor. I do not have time to send it in for a replacement and cannot function without my vpl so YES to me it's worth it. You can usually find used units on ebay for around $50.00

7. Very easy to open.

8. You will have to work the case a little but it will remain secure.

The Aluminum Slider is cheaper, and it appears* to be jsut as strong. I've finally finished my review of it.. look for the review by Wednesday.

*I did not actually comapre them. They are based on reading James's review, and talking to him about it, and having first hand experience with the Al slider.

How could aluminum be as strong as the titanium- IMPOSSIBLE. I've seen plenty of soda cans smashed but can't quite remember any made of ti. And miradu how exactly did you compare the two of them- I'd be interested in your own personal results.

My question: Will it hold a Plat with a MemPlug ("old" style) installed?

Ok.. I apologize for that post. I did not actually compare them, but trust me that aluminum is strong. it's 1/8th inch thick, and I can't dent it and it was perfect when I threw it around.

It's up to you to decide. Both protect your Visor unbelievably well.

I saw one in CompUSA and it looked like a PDA unit would slide around inside the case. Sure, the case itself was strong, but there was hardly any padding.

I read a post on here where someone added to the padding considerably. You might try searching for that post.

Aluminum vs Titanium

Well, believe it. Titanium is indeed stronger, for its mass and weight. That doesn't mean that the aluminum case is either the same mass or weight as the titanium version.
Aluminum is used extensively in applications where light weight and high strength are required---autos, jet aircraft, etc. Titanium is also used, but sparingly because of the cost. I see little reason to spend twice as much on a titanium case, when the benefits are as simple as a few grams of weight, minimal strength differences, and the cool titanium color. That being said, I don't own either of these cases. I'm just saying that a 1/8 inch thick sheet of quality aluminum will be tough as nails. Unless you're planning on consistently running over the case with a steamroller, don't feel like you need to pay the extra $$$ for the titanium.
