-- ShockSuit and Custom Visor Stylus? (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=3850)
I'm looking into getting a Visor Deluxe soon. I was wondering, does the PDA Panache Custom Visor Stylus cause any problems with the RhinoSkin ShockSuit SportCase. Also, is there space at the top of the case for Springboards with LED's top (Six-Pak, Memory Access)?
Thanks for your help.
I used the ShockSuit and the PDA Panache. FYI, my Shocksuit was originally for the Palm III, but Rhinoskin said they didn't make changes to the design for the Visor.
Anyway, the Panache fit fine...the Shocksuit has enough give on the flip cover that I didn't even notice a difference compared to the stock sylus. As for room for Modules and being able to see LEDs. I am afraid the flip cover totally covers the Visor, so you can really just use Modules that are flush or will very little extra size.
One thing I have to be honest about is the quality of the case and Rhinoskin's customer service. I can only repeat what I read in another post here on VC.....but someone had a problem with the Shocksuit (forgot what) and when they called RhinoSkin, they were told it was normal wear and tear. If I remember correct, the case wasn't even that old. And my case broken recently. It caught on the edge of car when I was getting in and the little nub on the back that clips into the belt clip broken right off. I didn't bother to contact Rhinoskin, since i had read the post about wear and tear. And with my case being about 8 month old........
I am not saying you shouldn't get the case. I loved it.....and I wear my Visor always. Well, not everywhere...until they make the 'Visor on a Rope for the Shower Module'. Just something to think about.

Thanks for your help, Ryan.
I would assume that Rhinoskin's customer service is the same for all their cases (I was thinking about the Ti Slider, but it's probably too expensive anyways).
Does anyone know of a case that offers similar protection as the ShockSuit does (but also keeps itself intact)?
Thanks.
Jon
Oh yeah, I forgot to ask; do you know how water-resistant this case is? I asked RhinoSkin and they said it would be okay in very light rain. Anyone have experience with this? (Or with whatever case you use?)
As far as the waterproof possibility of the Shocksuit....I would agree with Rhinoskin that anything more than a light rain could allow moisture in. The flip cover that goes across the top opening (where the Visor slides in) is not a tight fit....the ends on mine are turned up a little (not in a bad way). And the front cover only attaches with the little piece of velcro at the bottom. No where near a tight fit. So I would think in a heavy downpour rain could get into the case. Also, the case is a unusual fabric...I haven't seen it before, and I think it would probably absorb water. But I live in FL, and it rains daily at 5 during parts of the year, and I never had any problem. Best to avoid scuba diving or taking with you on your morning laps in the pool. =)
As far as another case. I can't speak from personal use, but there is a review here on VC for a Vaja case. It is the same flip top design as the Shocksuit, the leather sould be a decent protector for drops, and it has the rigid insert in the flip top to protect the screen from the feared crack! But what I like about the vaja that the Shocksuit doesn't have are many! The high quality leather, the metal nub for the belt clip (my Shocksuit problem solved), the 3 credit card inserts, and the money slot the openings for the IR and the reset hole, etc.......
The only reason I don't have this case is because I just spent close to $2000 on dental work and bought a new car....so watching every penny. Actually, being as cheap as I have to for a few months, I bought one of the belt clip kits for cell phones, stuck it on the leather slip case that came with my Deluxe, and made it a belt clip case. Seems to be holding fine......just don't run with it....my Visor flew out and slide across the parking lot in the rain....but....only a little scratch on the back! Hurray!

I own the shocksuit case and love it. Although when it rains I put it in my pocket. The case recieved the ultimate drop test last weekend when I hooked it on a door and it tore off my belt. The Visor remained inside as the whole thing flipped up about 6 feet off the ground then landed. The Visor was in perfect order, but, I had to reassemble the belt clip. So the case offers all the protection needed. Just not from water.
