Question

Hi there.

I recently switched from Palm Desktop to Outlook 2000.
While everything syncs fine, even the email, I cannot find the option (as in PalmDesktop) to automatically download new email from the server upon a hotsync.
This used to be the case with Outlook Express.
Is there a way to turn it on?
I set the Mail Conduit in the installation to Outlook and to use the Outlook Internet Settings....

thanks

I think what you're looking for is in the Mail app on the Visor itself. Under Options... HotSync Options... are the settings for All, Send Only, Filter, and Unread. These determine what mail gets synced to the handheld.

Hmm.
Well it says "all" on the visor.
But Outlook would still not connect to my mailserver when I hotsync.
Since I couldn't find it in any FAQ or help file:
Is this normal?
I mean: does outlook usually download new mails from server when visor is hotsynced?

thnx

Well... it's supposed to, but there are several factors that come into play. First, are you using a dial-up connection? If so, it it made prior to syncing or does the process of loading Outlook start the dialer? There could be an issue of timing here. If you are using a dial-up, try establishing the connection and opening Outlook before syncing and see if it helps.

If Outlook is already running when you sync, syncing won't force it to send/receive. That's controlled by the setting under Tools... Options... Internet Email...Check my local connections every [X] minutes. You should, however, still be able to sync over any new mail waiting in Outlook as per those settings on the Visor.
