-- Multiple Fatal Exception Errors After Using Find. Suggestions? (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=13886)
Last Thursday I encountered a fatal exception error after using the find feature on my prism. After performing a soft reset, and a warm reset the error returned each time, ultimately when using other applications. I then performed a hard reset. All was well until I tried to use find again today. I got the same error. A soft reset has done the trick for now, but I suspect by the end of the day I'll be using a hard reset.
Could the problem be caused by any of the applications I've added? I have Peanut Reader (trial version), Book Wormie (trial version), Mass Transit, Jungleport, Avantgo and the trial version of Wordsmith. I have added these applications over several months in the approximate order they appear above. I added Wordsmith a couple of weeks ago.
I'm only using about half of my system resources.
Also, I've got the Easter egg/convertible thing activated on on my prism, and they have been showing up more lately. Of course it's almost Easter so maybe that's why.
Any information or suggestions would be appreciated.
I too have noticed problems using FIND on my Prism. However, I believe mine are related to having the MemPlug installed. I do have WordSmith though and they have updated their software to version 1.11c. They were having some Reset problems so you might look into that. My Old Prism never had a problem using FIND. I just cannot remember if I tried it with the MemPlug in. Some users report the same problem I am having, while others have no difficulty at all. Very odd behavior. When did you purchase your Prism?

This is usually pretty easy to track down using either Find Hack or FindIgnore Hack.
As mentioned here many times, the Palm OS find function simply sends a request to all applications to perform a search. The actual search is performed by the individual applications. Some apps, don't handle this request very well and crash.
Find Hack and Find Ignore Hack allow you to specify which applications are sent the request. You can use these hacks to locate the offending application by a process of elimination.
Thanks for your input. I am now problem free. I tried updating and then removing WordSmith to no avail. After browsing other threads, I decided to try removing other applications. I removed Jungleport and the problem went away.
Can't remember if I used find in the period after installing Jungleport and before installing WordSmith, so I'm not sure it it was a Jungleport problem, or a problem with having it and WordSmith both installed.
I've had my Prism since December and hadn't encountered any problems with find until recently, so I don't think it was a prism issue.
If the problem crops up again I'll try Find Hack and Find Ignore Hack. Thanks to both of you for your help.
