Phone cord for China
I am planning to visit china next month, anyone know if they use the same phone cord as in US? I am going to bring my Prism w/Thinmodem with me on the trip. Any info. is appreciated.
What do you mean phone codes? I'm sure I can answer your question, if only I understood it ;-) As for area codes, they are 3 digit, most of them 0xx. As for the length of phone numbers, they are all different depending on whether it is a phone on a college campus, home phone, pager, or mobile phone. And, some mobile phones don't require an area code. Confused yet? Did I answer your question?
Thanks for the info. What I am really asking is does China have the same phone jack as in US? If I bring a phone cord with me to China, can I just plug it into the jack?
Ooops. I mean phone cord.
Well, everything is so nonstandardized...in most of the places I've been, they've had a standard US-style phone jack in the wall, but a few places have had a wire coming out of the wall (no wall plug) with a 'male' phone jack at the end...so you might want to bring an extra cord and one of those linky-together-things. Have a safe trip. Where will you be going in China?
Hope I can help =)
I'm Chinese, hope that I can help you with some of ur probs. =) As far as I know, the phone cords are the same. where r u going to be in China? I would think you might want to bring a 'linky-together-things' like heed suggested just in case. =) If there are anything else you might want to ask drop me an email: [email protected] Hope you have fun there. =)

Thanks all for the reply. I will go to Shanghai for 2 weeks.
You may want to drop by CompUSA or another store like it. In the section with laptop accessories and things like that (at least in the one near me) they have kits for international travel, including phone adapters and power adapters.
They usually have different size kits, one for "World Travel" one for "European Travel," things like that, so you don't need to spend $50 for one country's adapter.
On the other hand, if it's a business trip, get the whole bundle and bill it as a company expense
