-- Is the Ti Slider the only case for me? (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=3900)

Question

I'm a field geologist and I'm looking for a case for my Visor. The case needs to fit in a shirt or back pants pocket. It needs to be able to withstand the drop when it falls out of the shirt pocket and the crush when you sit down with it in the back pocket. Moisture and dust resistance would also be nice features.

Is the Ti Slider the only game in town? It seems like a good product, but its kind of hard to part with a c-note for case.

I've been looking for a good, hard-shell case as well, but it sounds like the options are rather slim.

There's the Rubber Bumper (concept kitchen) but I've heard a lot of complaints about that...mainly that the cover doesn't work...and, of course, it's not really meant for the visor.

Then there's the RhinoSkin Shocksuit...which I REALLY like the looks of:

...but I've heard nothing but bad things about that as well (shoddy workmanship).

There are also the $12 otter-boxes. Not pretty, but rugged. That's probably what I'll end up getting.

I think you're going to have to choose - size, or dust/moisture protection.

I thought the shocksuit looked pretty cool until I read the reviews on it. I wanted something for protection (didn't care TOO much about size) and went with an OtterBox. Very tough, strong, and well protected. Waterproof to 100ft or something like that. I took it to the bottom of my pool (6 feet) no problem. I'ts not as compact as the Ti-Slider, though, as it wasn't made specifically for the Visor. It'll fit in a cargo pants pocket fine. I haven't tried my jeans back pocket, but I think it would be awfully tight if it fits.

Cool

OtterBox is nice, but if you forsee your Visor getting buried in a small rockslide, the TI Slider is a reasonable investment.

Would you rather pay $100 now, or $250 later?

If you bought your Visor from Handspring, they will replace it for $85. You still should have a case, though!
