Sleek Aluminum Case & Hot Sync
Ok, so I'm confused...I got the free sleek aluminum case, and I'm confused as to how I'm supposed to hot sync without removeing the case at least a little....what am I missing?
You're not missing anything. I guess the point is that you don't have to remove the Edge entirely to charge it - you just have to slide the case up a bit. When I first got my case, I wondered the same thing. I like the feature, but I would like it more if I could just drop the Edge + case right on the cradle without making adjustments.
Like I said in my other post on the similiar subject....I'm thinking my dremel with a sharp enough cuting disc would zip right though it, nice & clean...I really like the case, but this was a big oversight in my opinion...so I'm going to 'improve' on it ;-)
Make sure you post and let me know how it goes - I am very interested. If you like the result, I may have my husband improve mine.
Ok, I will. My thought is that I can modify the cradle & case in such a combination that provides a good hold on the edge still, and yet provides access to the cradle w/o having to remove the case...there has got to be a way!
I'll let you know on Monday how it went.
It almost seems like you could cut down the cradle and leave the case intact? I'm not sure if it would leave enough suuport behind the Edge to hold it up though.
BTW, I just got an Edge and sleek case for my wife and I'm jealous. Suddenly my Prism, even with the color screen, seems bulky and less attractive.
I actually did modify the case & cradle. I basically left the side of the cradle as is, and cut out the middle part of the cradle. Then I did the opposite on the case. I cut out the very edges of the case (w/o) touching the hinge, and then basically made the to marry up together so that they fit snuggly. Works great. Since it was my first attempt, it worked pretty well, a couple of scuffs on the back of the case b/c my mini-dremel didn't have the juice it should have to cut through the metal, and kept jumping up.
But its on the back, so no big deal. I don't have to take the case off anymore to hot sync...and after all that's what I was going for.
