-- Visor Edge Picture Posted (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=12702)
Take a look at the Edge posted on PDABuzz and discuss initial likes/dislikes.

I think the screen is narrower. Look at the proportions of the text to numerical graffiti areas.
Not very interesting form. I would call it a "Slab". I'll probably still purchase it though...
Help!
Can someone please email the image to me? For some reason, the picture just says must be access through PDA Buzz.com. I tried going there through a new window instead of following the link, and it still isnt working for me. Thanks! Send it to:[email protected]
Visor Edge
I agree with the previous post that it is a bit 'slab' like (although a definite improvement). Why can't anyone combine the smart design of Apple with Practical operating systems like Palm / Windows? (not that I love Windows it is just practical in today's computing world). A case in-point is provided by the following link.

I'm disappointed, but I'll wait until I see one in person before I make a final decision. I think the original picture was squashed from the sides, since I doubt HS upped the resolution to 160 x 240. I also hope the screen dimensions aren't smaller (like the m100), the current size is good.

A different pic
On the second page of this thread
http://www2.pdabuzz.com/Forums/show...?threadid=14086 shows a more realistic picture. We will have to wait a week to find out for sure. Do you like the stylus on the outside?

So, now we know what the love child of the CLIE and the Casio PV-400 looks like. Sorry Handspring, but my money is on the m50X.

PS - Handspring, hire some real industrial designers already!
Is the PDA Buzz picture appropriately proportioned?
When I saw the picture on PDABuzz (they want credit, I'll give it to them...), the unit looked awful...long. So I took out my IVDx and compared it to the screen shot of the Edge. The 4 icons in the text entry area - the house, the drop-down, the calculator, and the magnifying glass - look slightly extended, or out of proportion. So I copied the picture to my computer and played with the proportions until the icons looked like what I see on my IVDx. It's a shorter unit, much more in line with our expectations of a palm-os device - more and more like a Palm V. I've attached the .jpg file of the resized picture for your review.
I don't know any more about what Handspring's up to than anyone else, but it's a thought. Any opinions?
Hmm...this is a bit disappointing. After all, this is supposed to Handspring's answer to the Palm V. So far, I'm not impressed. But I will wait to see it in person. One question I have is...where's the cover? Will it use a standard snap-off like the Visor, or will it use a flip-cover like the Palm V?

hmmm...if it has a good metal feel like my Canon Elph Digicam i think it might be pretty cool.
odds are that it uses aluminum for the casing...not stainless steel like the Elph.
otherwise, what's new? is it going to use a lithium polymer or standard lithium ion?
anybody know?

I hope if they use expansion pack, they don't use the serial port.
because if they do that, users cannot use the visor with a keyboard and a springboard modules(minstrel s)

As I mentioned on Saturday, I have seen pictures of what is said to be the new Visor product but could not share them ... until now.
? Seriously, I wonder how much boards like VisorCentral factor into corporate plans...__________________

I edited the image to correct a few distortions, and to remove the "over-stretched" effect.
UPDATE: New image

Like what I see
I like what I see so far. Definitely will be getting it. Finally a Visor that I can carry around with me all the time!
Update: Here is another variation where I removed (or at least tried) portions of the PDABuzz watermark.

I still say, "Yuck".
RocketScientist-
Yes, I know that Ideo was contracted to do both the V and the Visor (possibly the Edge?)- but Palm must have paid Ideo off to lay crap designs on Handspring and then back them up with fake data (like focus groups, consumer trials, usability graphs, etc...) to support their final recommendations. It's the only thing that could possibly explain how a Visor ended up being even less attractive than a Palm III-series. "But it's got a translucent color case!" you say? So what? As far as I'm concerned, the same applies to the Edge.
That said, I won't argue that a Visor - any Visor - represents a much better value than a Palm. If the Edge had come out a year ago, most likely I would have bought one over the Vx because of the inherent expandability. Unfortunately, it didn't come out a year ago, and I can't see for the life of me why someone would shell their hard earned bucks for an Edge when they could get an m500 with OS 4.0, 16Mb (rumored), new "paper white" screen technology, integrated SD slot, and a much more attractive design (notice that I'm not comparing it to the m505).
Just my $0.02, so don't bother flaming me.
