-- MatchBookDrive + Microdrive = 340MB (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=14552)
Wow!! Aren't we taking this a little too far? Is this really something we need? I wonder if my battery would last long enough to back up 340MB.

Very worthwhile
I feel this would be very useful for certain groups, such as the medical field. PDR reference, patient records, plus other crucial references.
This is one reason that I feel the Springboard implementation is the better choice over other designs.
Was the main reason I bought the Visor a year ago. The Backup module has saved my butt a few times.
I can see your point as far as reference materials and such but do I really want to watch a full lenth movie on a visor screen? I'm afriad I would a) spill my large diet coke on my visor b) get popcorn grease all over the screen c) run out of battery power before the end of the movie (with backlight on) d) all of the above. Plus I might save a few dollars.

I think this is awesome. And whether we agree with it or not it's going to happen. It's just a matter of who makes it happen first. Smaller device but yet larger storage. I think it opens up new possibilities, maybe not yet even thought of. As technology moves on it's inevitable that these devices will get more storage, more memory, more powerful and faster.
I welcome the Matchbook + Microdrive SB. I'd want one!
I wonder if it will allow apps to write to it directly???

I think I agree with you there Clark, 350MB's does seem much, and 1GB is almost impracticle. I think that if you download every single Palm file and database out there, the sum would not equal close to 1GB.

I think Clark's point is power drain, MicroDrive drain power very fast, Though large storage make everything possible
, but no power make everything impossible
. So MicroDrive is not very useful right now. But this is the first step for our dream.

"I'm working from memory here (no pun intended), but didn't Bill Gates once say "640k is enough for anybody" when asked about the inherit memory limitation in MS-DOS?"
Yeah -- & when in college, he discovered the Internet, but could not discern any usefulness it might have for anyone.
I remem. when the 1st 1Gb HDs for PCs came out ... a friend actually turned to me in the car (my mind snapped a photo that's indelible) and said: "Can you imagine ... a GIGAbyte ...!!!" I remem. nodding my head w/awe!
Finally, I'm pretty sure Gates also once said:
"Having sex just once in your life is plenty!"
