-- Does every Prism flicker? (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=13170)

Angry

I just got my Prism 2 days ago. After reading all of the posts on this board about screen flicker, red dot and syncing, I was quick to notice that my Prism flickers too. I played with the brightness adjustment as well as the 1/1/1904 date change trick to adjust the contrast. It still flickers. Should I exchange this one for another or do they all flicker to some degree? This seems to be the only problem with this unit. Also, I am curious about the new Sony Clie color model and am wondering how long it will be until it is available as a second option. All comments are appreciated.

Thanks,
Brad

You should try to change the contrast again
Good luck!

I went through three units, and all of them flickered. A rep. at Handspring's technical support told me that the flicker is typical with all Prisms. If you adjust the brightness--not contrast--above the halfway mark, the flicker will be less noticeable. The brighter the screen, the less noticeable the flicker.

Pdabuzz.com has the solution to fixing the flicker on the prisms. Its a little known secret to adjusting the contrast in the prism. You have to set the date to January 1st 1904 then hold the power button in as you would to adjust he brightness. Intstead of being the brightness it is really the contrast. Step it down just a bit and it should solve the flicker.
