Okay, geeks.
One I haven't figured out yet.
It just occurred to me to keep my Handspring Visor Deluxe as I take up the Prism.

Question: How does one feed two PDAs from the same PC?
All my goodies are registered to the same HotSynch registered name (address). I BackUpBuddy, and also use two 8MB Memory Modules.

Learned opinions?

Thanks in advance.

Bruce

Multiple PDA's can be fed from one PC... the only catch is that they need seperate HotSync user names OR you need to set up seperate user profiles on the desktop. Syncing 2 or more from the same desktop setup is guaranteed to cause trouble.

I can vaguely remember that I read somewhere that appart from the username I thought Palm OS uses a unique number to identify your device (kinda like a MAC-adress). So it should be able to identify which is which... I'not sure though...

Also remember that the PRISM uses a different cradle than the Visor (Deluxe)..

Do files get embarrassed when they get unzipped?

We're two-Visor household and we'll have one Prism cradle and one regular USB cradle connected to one PC. Would that be a problem? User names are different. I sent an e-mail to HS asking this but haven't got a real reply yet(just got an automated reply).

That should work. The only thing that might be a problem would be syncing both at the same time... an unlikely event (but you never know ).

This is true. If you do a :ShortCut: . 4 a PalmOS Device will flash the HotSync name and this number to the screen. However the HotSync program uses this number to determine if two devices are different. If you try to sync two devices with the same user to the same computer, the HotSync program will complain. I do not clearly remember the message, but it was something about you cannot have two devices with the same name syncing to the same computer.

WARNING: If you do not know what the :ShortCut: . # commands do, do not experiment. Some of them can cause problems.

A Tale of Two Handsprings

Hmmm...

Thanks for all your responses.

This is delicate and serious enough that I need to contact Technical Support at Handspring.

(Playing around with this just cost me some valuable records, inadvertently deleted.)
