Micro Innovations screen protectors
I'm looking for screen protectors for my prism. It seems that people like Brando a lot, second by WriteRights for Palm IIIC. I saw the Micro Writeguards from Micro Innovations today in a store for $10. Has anybody tried these? How are the results? They claim to work with a bunch of B&W and color models. Would something that works well for B&W also work well for color?
kruiser,
I recently upgraded from my original 2mb Visor to a Visor Prism. Wanting better screen clarity than I got from the WriteRIGHT's by Fellowes (they have a kind of opaque texture), I went with the Micro Innovations Write Guards. At $7 I figured I couldn't go wrong. Boy, was I wrong. They have a very nice smooth surface, like a Belkin protector a friend let me try but they show scratches VERY bad. I would go literally months with the WriteRIGHT's but this Micro brand one already needs replacing after a couple of weeks. I would stick with the Belkin's or, if you don't need the smooth surface, the WriteRIGHT's.

Some time ago, I took advantage of a $5 off promotion for CompanionLink screen protectors. Now they are $5 + $7 shipping for 12:

They are fairly clear. Kind of soft, like vinyl. They don't scratch much when I use a stylus.
I used to make my own using inkjet window decals from Staples. They were more clear and more scratch resistant. Unfortunately they had a water soluble coating for printing. I got lazy and the CompanionLinks were cheap enough, so I switched.
I suspect the Brandos use the same material, but without the coating. And they charge $9 for one! Talk about profit!
I have been through a lot of screen protectors and I would not recomend companionlink. They use glue for their backing and it leaves a harmful residue on the screen.
My favorite is brando, but I found a cheaper version of them here: www.newtonelectronics.com/pdascreenprotectors.htm. They have the same properties as brando, but you get 16 for $9.99 instead of 1 for $9.00.
I think that the Micro Innovations protector is the same as the Radio Shack labelled one, and these are pretty poor options. I tried one and was able to make a definate scratch after drawing a circle in the same place about 10 times with my usual pressure.
The Grafitti area quickly hazed over, repeat strokes in games and heavily used apps showed up rapidly, and it just was not real durable.
